Check-in:

16:00 - 22:00

Car/SatNav:

Use our postcode: HS8 5TW.  We have plenty of onsite parking.  Look for the brown tourist sign on the main road opposite the old school, a mile outside Lochboisdale. Turn here and follow the Lasgair road a quarter of a mile until you see the Brae Lea House sign at the end of our cattle-grid.

Electric car charging:

We host two public 7.4kW EV chargers, owned and operated by Zest, located on our property by the side of the road. For speedy charging, download their app before arrival.

This map shows all charging locations in Scotland. Note that 'Charge Place Scotland' is one of many other charging networks and is not affiliated with Zest.

Pedestrians from the ferry/Lochboisdale:

There is a short-cut via the (unlit) footpath behind the post-office on Kenneth Drive (on your right just after you crest the rise leaving Lochboisdale). Following the path signposted "Lasgair Path" leading down and over the causeway will bring you, via a small gate, to the end of the Lasgair road - we are 200 metres up on the left. Do not try to walk or cycle over our cattle-grid - please use the wooden gate opposite the front door.

Airports:

Benbecula (BEB)  - flights to & from Glasgow twice daily in summer with Loganair.  Benbecula airport is 45 minutes drive from Brae Lea House. There is a regular, if not frequent, bus service: see here for timetable. Did you know that Loganair are working with a company in England to develop electric planes to fly some of their routes?

Barra (BRR) (next island down, ferry connection) - flights to & from Glasgow, usually cheaper than flights to Benbecula. And they land on the beach! Take a look at the video below (it's now operated by Loganair, not FlyBe). Yes, it's a different island but the bus will take you from the airport to the ferry, the ferry is only 45 minutes, and another bus meets the ferry when it arrives at Eriskay. And Eriskay, since you ask, is connected via a permanent causeway to sunny South Uist, journey time to our place is about 20 minutes depending on traffic.

Private Jet. In a hurry to get here? Private jets are like an Uber for the sky. But a teensy bit more expensive. It's free to dream with Hebridean Air.

Car Hire:

Lochboisdale: Laing Motors will meet you off the ferry. Their base is only a 10 minute walk from Brae Lea House. Booking recommended in summer. 01878 799267

Airport:  ASK Car Hire will meet you off your flight at Benbecula - ring to book in advance. They'll also leave a car for you at ferry ports (but may charge extra for this). Printed this out and need their number? 01870 602 818

Bicycle & E-bike Hire

Our neighbour Lasgair Bike Hire offers part-day and whole day rentals of bikes and e-bikes. 07961954533

Bus:

The island spinal service operates from Berneray ferry terminal (for Harris), just across the causeway from North Uist, south to Eriskay ferry terminal (for Barra) via all stops in-between on North Uist, Benbecula and South Uist - and will drop you at Lasgair if you ask.   Please check times as not all services run the whole route! (If you get marooned, call us and we may be able to pick you up). Check out these bus timetables.

Train:

There are no trains on Uist. Alas!

Summer: Nearest station Mallaig. Take the ferry from Mallaig to Lochboisdale from the quayside adjacent to the station.

Winter: Nearest station Mallaig or Oban. Take the ferry to Lochboisdale from the quayside adjacent to Oban station.

For details of train times and to book tickets, go to National Rail Enquiries.

Ferry:

All our island ferries are operated by CalMac.

Lochboisdale: 1 mile from Brae Lea House: Ferries to Mallaig 3.5 hours (summer), Oban 5.5 hours (winter). Check this page for details of any delays or disruption.

Eriskay: 11 miles away (20 mins drive): Ferries to Barra. Check this page for details of any delays or disruption.

Lochmaddy (North Uist): 41 miles away (1 hour drive): ferries to Uig on Skye. The shortest ferry journey, to Uist. Check this page for details of any delays or disruption.

Ok, so here's that video of a plane landing at Barra beach airport.
